The first thing I did was design my brake bracket in Inventor. We were given a handout with all the measurement and instruction on how to make the brake bracket the exact way necessary.
After I finished my design in Inventor I put it in Fusion 360 to set up the tool paths. I also adjusted the spindle speed and many other things.
When I finished my tool paths I went to the CNC mill and put file on the computer. I attached double sided tape to the bottom of the foam so it would't fall off when it was being cut. Then, I moved the bit to the bottom left corner of my foam.
When I pressed start it began to cut. This took a lot longer than I expected. It kept cutting parts that I already cut but it eventually finished.
The last thing I needed to do was engrave my name on the brake bracket. I did this by using the same file I used for when I engraved my maze, but I just made it smaller so it would fit on the brake bracket.
Summary:
Overall I learned how to use a CNC mill and the way it operates. I also gained some experience with Inventor and Fusion 360. This information will be helpful for my final project.
